The Earl<\/strong> chess pieces have familiar, easy-to-read forms and are available in a choice of coloured lacquer finishes. The pieces are all made from boxwood, and the same shapes are used for every colour, so two differently coloured half-sets can form the opposing sides.<\/p>\n

Earl is sold in half-sets. Each half-set contains 16 + 1 pieces, including an additional queen. Customers select at least two half-sets and may add further colours. Progressively larger discounts apply as more half-sets are added; see our Discounts<\/a><\/strong> page for details.<\/p>\n

With a king height of 3.75\u00a0in, the pieces are weighted for steady handling during play. The king base diameter is 4.2\u00a0cm (1.65\u00a0in). They are best suited to 5.0\u00a0cm (1.97\u00a0in) squares.<\/p>\n
